Testimonials

We asked Tom Folsom to help us redesign our driveway entry, which was awful in the winter because of blowing, drifting snow. There were times when it was difficult to open the door because the wind caused huge drifts to appear overnight. Tom listened to our problems and
understood them in a way that came from a lifetime of building and maintaining properties in the harsh Rangeley environment. No more problems getting the door open, and now we store firewood in a special free-standing wood bin that Tom made for us inside the mudroom. Great job, Tom!

It often seems like Tom has seen it all and done it all, and we cannot begin to convey how his knowledge has helped us to solve many small problems over the years. The latest example was in finding a leak in the downstairs shower that no amount of sealing seemed to fix. Tom suggested we have a plumber tighten the fitting where the shower head pipe goes into the wall. It worked!

Big or small, Tom is a valuable ally in keeping our Rangeley home the way we want it.

Tom Folsom (dba) The House Doctor and his crew transformed our aging summer cottage into a year round getaway retreat! Tom’s experience and insight allowed to update the usefulness of our cottage and maintain its original character and charm.

Our numerous requests probably had Tom pulling his hair out of his head! Yet, he accommodated our ideas and provided valuable suggestions to meet our wishes.

Tom Took control and responsibility for our various projects. He kept us informed of scheduling, costs, material delivery, manpower and permit issues. Generally speaking, we did not encounter any major surprises during our construction process.

We have numerous friends in the construction industry. We are always pleased to hear their positive remarks regarding Tom’s creativity and quality workmanship. Their comments always reinforce our decision to seek out Tom’s help for future projects.

In 2005 we decided to demolish our 1930's vintage camp and replace it with a new building.  Tom Folsom, The House Doctor, was highly recommended to us and we contracted him to build.  Ground was broken in September 2005 and our new place was completed in April 2006.  We enjoyed a great working relationship with Tom in planning and constructing the building. He always displayed a friendly demeanor throughout the business relationship and we continue to be good friends.  This building was not erected from blueprints from a book but rather from our own design; thus, there were many, many decisions involved.  Tom was immensely helpful in this process, providing sound advice while being careful not to interfere with our personal preferences.  We very much appreciated his willingness to use several somewhat unique features using old materials that we acquired over several years in anticipation of such use.  Tom and his crew did wonderful work and we are totally pleased with the building

Tom Folsom has done a number of jobs for us over the past few years.  He is conscientious and very dependable and leaves the site in better condition than when he arrived with his crew!  He has roofed a few buildings for us, built a creative designed handicapped ramp, replaced a portion of a garage floor, rebuilt a dock, etc., etc, etc.  And always with professionalism and honesty you hope to get from a contractor!
